From next February 13, Windows Live Mesh will cease to exist. Microsoft has informed subscribers of the service that should be passed to SkyDrive, although some of the basic functions of Live Mesh are they not preserved.


Windows Live Mesh is a tool created to share files between computers with Windows and Mac OS X, in addition to providing remote access. It had started to operate in April 2008, then Microsoft should be made with the FolderShare, ByteTaxi Inc. purchased property, being subsequently improved by Microsoft.

Microsoft announces that the popularity of Live Mesh was not exactly high, since to this day only had about 25,000 active users, against more than 200 million people currently using SkyDrive.

Although Mesh users may continue to share files through the cloud, the feature of remote desktop it no longer available for them. Microsoft has given instructions to the users of Mesh to move your files to Skydrive, and has even recommended the program LogMeIn Pro to access remote PCs.
