The myth of Linux and 1 %

Everytime we mentioned some percentage that refers to the use of all major operating systems, you've seen that Linux does not exceed 1%, sometimes even less. Do never have you ever wondered why Linux always appears with a percentage that would lead us to think that does not use it nor the family of Linus Torvalds?

Let's base that Linux is not a majority OS such as Windows. We have mentioned many times that the strength of Windows marketing is unsurpassed, coupled with the fact that is installed on almost all computers that are sold in the market. If you buy a new computer, it is more likely that he comes with Windows. This leads to people prefer it because it is the OS that has always used, partly because each computer purchased always has come with Windows already installed. However, Linux has more than 1%, as I show after the jump.

According to ABI Research, Linux garnered 32 percent of the market netbook in 2009, despite being almost impossible to get it in stores. This number does not include systems sold with dual boot, in which Windows is considered the operating system by default. And we are in 2013...

It should also consider that, for statistics, any computer that sold with Windows it will continue to count as one sale of Windows, even though the first thing to get home is to format it and install Linux.

Another interesting fact the same Steve Ballmer, of Microsoft, gives him when recently mentioned that one of the greatest enemies of Windows was Linux, with a market share of which, according to Ballmer, it was estimated to be almost the same as the Apple. We are talking of about 8 per cent, which puts Linux on the same level as Mac OS. This 8% translates to 24 million sets a year sold with pre-installed Linux.
