Dropbox, the popular storage service online, it has acquired music streaming AudioGalaxy service. Everything points to that Dropbox wants to enter this sector and probably soon will launch its own cloud-based music service.
The AudioGalaxy company has announced on his blog the purchase by Dropbox but has not provided any details about the amount paid for the acquisition. However, it must go further and take into account that Dropbox has more than 100 million users scattered all over the world, and if it gets the attention with its future service, surely will have a great impact.
AudioGalaxy is a platform that allows you to play streaming music that we have stored on our computer. At the moment, is not known as Dropbox tries to implement this service. Personally, I think it will add to Dropbox service to be able to play music on any device or even from the same website. Lately many companies are developing are tools given that they are in great demand. Each time we have more devices and want to have all our synchronized content to be able to consume it in any site. Indeed, it should be staking that earlier this month, MIcrosoft also announced that he wanted to integrate a player of music in SkyDrive.
At the moment, AudioGalaxy has opted to close records on its website. In addition, music lists drawn up by its only users will be available until end of year. So all indications are that in 2013 Dropbox remove to light its new service.
Now, in that niche market there is much competition. Google Music and iCloud are a clear example of two services well seated and backed by the largest companies. Nor us can forget the launch of Amazon Cloud Player in Spain two months ago. If Dropbox want to differentiate themselves will surprise us with new functionalities which can call us enough attention as to pass us at your service.
