It is not the first time that you hear rumors about the interest of Apple by technology developed by Sharp IGZO screens. So far, these rumors have not become a reality, but it now seems that it might be closer than ever thanks to the improvement of the technology of these screens.


According to reports that had been received, Sharp is not going through a very good situation at the moment, but its IGZO technology is attracting the attention of many other companies. Apparently, the company is thinking about quitting focus on panels for large-size TVs, to focus on improving the technology for displays of small dimensions, ideal for mobile and tablets, since several investors (including Qualcomm) have shown interest in them.

Thanks to technology IGZO is possible to create high resolution screens with one consumption much lower than other technologies. This technology allows an improvement of the mobility of the electrons (up to 40 times more mobility), by which an important way reduces energy consumption. In addition, it is possible to create thinner screens using this technology and is applicable both to screens large and small. From TVs, up to mobile or tablets.

Apparently on this occasion Apple Yes could be seriously thinking in using this technology in their upcoming products and would not be strange that we saw a 5, mini iPad iPad 2 or 5S iPhone with a screen of this type next year, although it all depends on if Sharp and AU Optronics will be able to produce the required amount of panels so that Apple can incorporate them to the characteristics of its future devices.
